Yahweh's Assembly - anyone familiar?

this group is out of michigan i think.

they started sending me some pamphlets.

they use yahweh instead of jehovah.

I googled Yahweh's Assembly, and browsed one of the sites that came up. The reason. I think my brother in law is studing with some one with similar beliefs as what is spouted on there. He observes the sabbath. Stopped doing holidays. I think this is the group he hooked up with.

They normally gather every Saturday at his house to study the bible. He has been recruiting people in the family for a while, and managed to get my FIL & MIL to go. I don't worry much about them since they are older, but I do worry about his 4 kids. He has asked my wife and I to go just to check it out. He said maybe we can contribute some of out understanding of the bible ( he knows i grew up JW). I have turned him down politely everytime.

Just a few weeks back, my wifes nephew got married by the court, and we were supposed to all go to by BIL's house for a "reception" (at least that is what i was told ). Once we got there we knew something was up. It ended up being being a full marriage ceremony (preaching ceremony) to all that attended. It was the wierdest thing I've been to. BIL and elder all dressed up in drama type clothes (you know like the cheap ones they used at the assembly when trying to look like ancient isrealites). Singing songs to yahweh and Achua er.. jeshua... whatever. Full with the blowing some twisted horn to finalize the ceremony.

I tried my best to get the hell out, but wife wanted me to take one for the team. Once we excused ourselves, the elder came up and gave us a cd that had music they were singing, and some booklet, and envited us to come on a Saturday, and study with them . Told him thanks, but no thanks, and we left.

I've been looking for a while on the net about his beliefs ( wife wanted me to research to see if it was a danger to her parents) and had not found a link till today. Thanks for the help AK.

Funny thing... A while back my wifes Aunt was studing with JW's, and when my BIL found out about it, he printed up a bunch of stuff (negative) about JWs to show this Aunt what she was getting into. Well he never gave it to her, and she eventually got baptized as a JW (she's older no small kids, no big worry). Well she came to this same wedding recept er.. ceremony, and after BIL finished the service, he passes by us and sais, "where is Aunt, She and I have a lot to talk about, i need tell her about the real truth"..

Funny how cults like to throw that word out alot.

Rapist gets life term for spitting on officer

SAPULPA, Okla. -- A convicted rapist has been sentenced to life in prison for spitting on a police officer.

Creek County Associate District Judge April Sellers White followed the recommendation of a jury for the maximum sentence against John C. Marquez under a law that makes it a felony to place bodily fluids on law enforcement officers.

White rejected a prosecution request for a 25-year prison term and a defense request for a four-year term.

Following sentencing Monday, Marquez's attorney, Jason Serner, promised an appeal to the state Court of Criminal Appeals. No appeal had been filed by today.

Marquez, 35, was convicted of hurling body fluids on Sapulpa Officer Charles Gadd while Gadd was taking Marquez to jail following a domestic disturbance in which a woman's arm was broken.

The 1996 state law that makes it a felony to place bodily fluids on law enforcement officers was enacted amid concerns that deadly diseases, such as AIDS, could be transmitted this way.

Gadd told the jury that Marquez spit on him despite being warned and then bit him when Gadd was trying to prevent Marquez from spitting again.

Gadd and Marquez tested negative for any communicable diseases.

The jury took 15 minutes on May 14 to recommend the life sentence. Marquez's prior felony convictions, including rape and burglary, were taken into consideration in determining the sentence.

In addition to the life term, Marquez received one year in jail and a $3,000 fine for his conviction for domestic assault and a $500 fine for resisting a peace officer.

Telephone calls to the judge, the prosecuting attorney and the defense attorney were not returned today.

He obviously has no respect for women, property, or police authority. Do i think the sentacing is to harsh? I don't know, but i'm of the feeling that if you can't do the time don't do the crime. Like someone mentioned earlier, the jurors probably saved someones live in the future. This loser was obviously not trying to better his life. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

First Of The Fallen Come Home.

yesterday saw the first of the fallen brits being returned home to raf brize norton.. .

the first 10 british soldiers who died in iraq, were, unusually, returned to the uk.

normally, fallen brit soldiers are buried at the place in which they fell, however it has been decided that where possible, all bodies will be returned the homeland in the hope that the bereaved relatives will be able to gain some comfort from this.. englishman.

I was at the Rally for America in Houston 9,000+ people attended. There was plenty of support for the troops there. Even Shela (Crazy Lefty) Jackson Lee was there. Her qoute "I support the troops".

Please don't put your "spin" on reality. Oh and have you ever had this thought, maybe the reason you probably don't see equal rallies as the "peace" (err. disruptive, stopping traffic so working people can't get to work, cost the taxpayers money for extra police, mostly students that have no jobs, no experience in life, no experience in foreign affairs, still living of mommy and daddy who most likely are successful, productive members of society.) is that the majority of the troop supporters have to work productive jobs, spent time with there families. They probably don't have the time (since they do have a career) to counter every "peace" "die in" "teach in" rally.
